It seems hard to believe that it was three years ago when I was asked to be the Women’s Ministry Leader. At first, I refused, thinking it would consume too much of my time. I had just retired after working 47 consecutive years on various jobs and although my plans were to volunteer, I was not looking for anything with the magnitude of Women’s Ministry Leader. Besides, I had no experience at all with Women’s Ministry.

I am so blessed that, first of all, God felt it was my calling to do this job, and second, that he provided me with the tools to be able to do it. I was also blessed to have a great Women’s Ministry Planning Team already in place to assist me. They have been totally supportive, encouraging, and always willing to do anything that I ask of them. The great ladies presently serving on the Team are Debra Cearley, Karen Hubbard, Mary Sue Lemmon, Cindy Moore, Becky Robertson, Pat Smith, Becky Throgmorton, and Marjorie Walsh. Past members who also assisted me were Mary Ellen Evans, Lu Rexrode, Virginia Rhodes, Pat Shelton and Laverne Travis. To them I say a special “thank you!” You made my job so easy. I also had the support of three great elders, Al Smith, John Noyes and Steve Rogers.

Thanks also to each of you ladies at Central! Your support has been there as well, whether you served as chairman of a committee, served on a committee, attended one of the Women Ministry special events, sent me a card or came up to tell me that you thought I was doing a good job. Attendance at our events has grown, and it is my prayer that it will continue to grow and that each of you will continue to be willing to serve in some capacity.

You will be in good hands with Becky Throgmorton taking over as Women’s Ministry Leader. Central is so blessed to have Becky. She has such a godly spirit and servant attitude. She will be officially taking over the role of Women’s Ministry Leader effective September 1, 2008. She has been working very closely with the team and me all this year preparing to assume her new position. Please give her your full support and encouragement. I plan to continue to be involved in Women’s Ministry by serving on the Planning Team, which means I will probably still be asking you to help us out in some way.

Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Women’s Ministry Leader for the past three years! “Give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over will be poured into your lap. For whatever measure you deal out to others, it will be dealt to you in return.” Luke 6:38
