Ladies, the time is drawing nearer. You don’t want to miss an exciting time of fellowship with your friends and learn how to “Simplify Your Life and Faith” at the same time. DON’T FORGET, if you have not already marked your calendars, it is still not too late. We hope that you all will be able to attend.

The Women’s Retreat is scheduled for April 24-25, 2009 at Bishop Quarterman Conference Center. The theme this year will be Get Back to Basics …Simplify Your Faith. The theme for this year’s retreat will focus on simplicity in your life and faith using several episodes of the Andy Griffith Show as discussion starters. Betsey Tonne will be our facilitator.

We will also have Christian Comedienne Martha Marie (aka Rita Morrow) who will open and close our retreat. She has performed at many Women’s Conferences throughout the U.S. as well as events with the Gaither Vocal Band, to name a few. If you would like to know more about Martha Marie, you can visit her web site at www.marthamarie.net. We ask that you all will be praying for the success of the retreat and that it will be used to glorify God.

PARTICIPATION

As I peruse my friend's garden, I am amazed at the variety of flowers and plants there. Some plants produce flowers, others only shady leaves. Some produce thorns and stickers along with flowers and fruit. Some plants wind around others; some spread out flat. Plants grow into bushes or develop delicate feathery ferns. Seeds range from thousands of minuscule dots released from a pod to tiny umbrellas that can float on the breeze. Some are huge stickery balls while others are edible and delicious. Tall, short, tough, vulnerable, smooth, delicate, deep roots or shallow, multicolored, multileaved, multipurpose; how amazing! Amidst this kaleidoscope, however, it is important to note that all these plants must have the same elements to survive and flourish. All must take part to some degree in moisture, sunlight and soil to live. Some plants flourish in wind, fire and freezing cold. But all plants are linked through their need for these basic things. As I gaze across our assembly, I see the marvelous variety of God's creation. All have different talents, abilities, ministries, viewpoints, strengths and weaknesses. Yet we must participate together in the same elements of worship to survive and flourish. We all need to participate in prayer, God's word, listening, encouragement and fellowship. What better time to connect with the Lord than in worship; where we can fulfill our needs and fill others' needs at the same time through worshipping the one God. Hebrews 10:24-25
