Introducing Dorcas House

     “Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity.” Acts 9: (36-43)
     Many of you are familiar with the Curtis Construction building that sets on the corner of our west parking lot.  In the past it has been used to store items for garage sales.  About a year ago, Women’s Ministry began thinking about a better use for the building and we made a proposal to the Elders for its use which they whole heartedly endorsed.  Women’s Ministry wanted to develop the building into a sewing ministry base that would create items of use to the needy in the community.  We began with one idea for using the building but as we have worked to ready the building the Lord continues to reveal to us more and more ways in which it can be used in his service.  For that inspiration we are grateful and excited.
     The building needed much upgrading and the Deacons, Greg Dowell, the Finance Committee, George Nelson, and especially Chuck Minich, went out of their way to speed along the necessary work.    Melanie and Jack Hornbuckle, Karen Hubbard, Carroll and David Kilpatrick, Jorene Kirkland, Bob Patrick, Lou Anderson, Jo Ann Thomas, Laverne Travis, Elleta Wilson, Marilyn Wood, and Don and Mary Ellen Evans put in a lot of time and elbow grease in cleaning and painting and Janelle Jackson did the shopping for chairs.  We began our dream by giving it the name, Dorcas House, based in the Acts chapter nine story of Dorcas
