Eighty-five to 90 women met in Sneed Hall for Central’s annual Women of the Word (WoW) special event, Tuesday, July 16.

Women from Central welcomed guests from local Churches of Christ: Comanche Trail, Olsen Park, San Jacinto, and North Heights, as well as, from Evangelical Fellowship, New Light, St. Lawrence’s, St. Luke’s, and First Presbyterian Churches who came to celebrate, Jesus. Others came from as far away as Lubbock and Brasilia, Brazil!

Karen Hubbard, emcee for the evening, welcomed everyone and introduced the speaker. Mary Ellen Evans led the opening prayer.  Guests, then, enjoyed a delicious meal from the taco bar and strawberry shortcake parfaits.

Becky McCasland, the evening’s speaker, has been a member at Central for 16 years.

She earned a degree from the University of Hawaii!  She, also, received a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas Tech University.  Becky is married and has two children.  Currently, she is a P.E. teacher in Amarillo.
