New Beginnings

But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29 NIV

I sat drinking my coffee and watching the flow of cars full of parents and children headed for the school located down the street. It was the first day of school. “New beginnings,” I thought. “We all need new beginnings.” My children are grown but that doesn’t mean I can’t use the opportunity of others’ new beginnings as my own. I needed a new beginning, a new opportunity to stretch and grow with my Christian sisters.

New beginnings are all around us. Some fall naturally into our lives and others we create with our own determination. Graduation, college, a new job; a move, a birthday, a marriage, a new baby, a new year, a new school year, retirement, or death of a loved one are all opportunities for new beginnings. Almost any occasion and certainly any day of the year is opportunity for a new beginning. God gives us new beginnings to remind us to seek him in all our ways.

New beginnings. We all need them to enable us to step back and look at our life for ways we can improve it. Improvement may mean changes in routine, diet, life style or service to others. It most certainly should include our relationship with God. I bowed my head and thanked God for the blessing of new beginnings.

Thought for today: Every new beginning has the potential to draw us closer to God.
Pray For: Open eyes to see new beginnings and the opportunities they make to show new vigor for God’s service.
