It has been a busy summer at Dorcas House. There were three sessions of Sewing Camp and 17 girls learned to sew. In addition to making projects for themselves they worked together and made a quilt for charity with enough blocks left over for half of another quilt. Some of the girls will continue to work on this 1/2 quilt and it too, will soon be finished. Camp was so popular that the girls asked for more so there will now be a camp one Saturday a month. The first Saturday session of sewing camp will be Sept. 20th from 9 to noon. The camp is full and no new admissions are being accepted.

Fall is upon us and winter will come soon. That means a need for warm quilts. Dorcas House is offering two quilting opportunities. One for those who already know how to quilt and one for those who would like to learn. Elleta Wilson is heading up a project to make 200+ quilts for CASA and she needs quilters. Her group will make quilts and stuffed animals for abused and neglected children.   You will be able to quilt at home or at Dorcas House on Thursday mornings. Starting September 4, Elleta will be at Dorcas House Thursdays 9:00 - 11:00 AM for fabric selection and/or quilting.  For those that are unable to make this time, Eletta will meet you at Dorcas House one evening during the week for fabric selection. You may also use your own fabric. You are greatly needed to help.  Even if you do not quilt, you can help with cutting, pressing, etc. Please contact Elleta Wilson @ 425.286.3895 with questions or more information.

The other quilting opportunity comes from numerous requests for evening classes at Dorcas House. Gail Littlefield & Nan Blount will be teaching a 6 week evening quilting class beginning Mon., Sept. 8 from 7 to 9p.m. You will be taught how to sew a simple quilt. Please contact Nan (372.7890) for more information. This class is limited to 14 ladies.

Two new Brother sewing machines have been donated to Dorcas House. One by an anonymous donor and one by The Sewing Nook. We are so grateful to have them and we thank you! We are grateful for all the donations we receive, from fabrics to notions to machines. We become better equipped by the week and it all will be used to Godís glory. Thank you!
