      Mission Statement

We’ve moved…..for the first time. You may have noticed that Dorcas House looks a lot like a parking lot under construction! That’s because it is! Our original building served us so well! So well, in fact, that when the opportunity arose for Dorcas House to move to a larger location, a sigh of relief echoed through the stuffed-to-the-gills nooks and cranny’s of the little building!

Our new building, the 501 Fit Building on the corner of Monroe and 16th, is in process of being renovated. Now, as anyone who has ever remodeled anything knows, projected finish dates are only hope based and rarely happen—sort of like baby due dates. Our original six-week move-in has passed. According to Nan Blount, “Everything takes longer than you expect. Our elders and deacons are working diligently. And we are being patient.”

Our sewing machines have taken this down time to receive needed maintenance at Sewing Nook where they will be stored until their new home is ready. Thank you Sewing Nook! Our beautiful fabrics are also safely tucked away until they are once again needed for quilts, clothes, baby blankets, and other mission projects.

And we are being patient.
